Summer of Adventure 2013

Over this summer I was involved in a lot of adventure. Most of it was related to our Nordic Summer training program. I also worked a job this summer, almost every night for two months. In this post I am going to sum up the state of adventure I experienced this summer with some photos I captured.

My summer started the moment my last final ended. In less than an hour I was already at Boreal shooting some photos of Isaac getting his summer shred on. The snow there lasted about 3 weeks following that day.

Right off the bat I started my summer training and working. I worked extremely hard at each of these for the whole first month of my summer. I was able to get out on the Fourth of July and shoot some fireworks.
In the middle of July my family got to travel up to Idaho for a river trip. We were on the Main Salmon river for 6 days with a group of 17 people.

On this trip, I captured a lot of long exposure motion shots of many side creeks we passed. I had just picked up a new wide angle 17-40mm lens so these shots were super fun to play around with.

This photo was a fun one to capture with all the spider webs but it was
a difficult climb to the pool.

After being on the Main Salmon river we spent a couple nights at Jeff and Sally's house (a couple who were on our Salmon trip). They live at Payette Lake in Idaho. From there we did a couple of day trips on the North fork of the Payette. It was some super fun water to paddle!

After a few days in Idaho we returned home. Our whole trip lasted right around two weeks.

That weekend upon return was the Donner Lake Triathlon. I got a couple photos of some friends of mine who competed!

After our vacation in Idaho, I returned back to my regular schedule of training and work. One night at work everyone was talking about that night being a big one for Meteor Showers. I ended up convincing my mother to let me go up to Donner Summit with a co-worker of mine to shoot some Starscapes. I was not successful with capturing any Meteors but did have fun shooting the Milky Way! We shot the sky from 11PM to about 2AM

In the middle of August, right before school started up again, I went down to the coast in the Redwoods of Klamath, California for a summer training camp. We spent 5 days rollerskiing, running, bounding, and surfing. I worked super hard during the training sessions at this camp, so I do not have photos of training but I did get some other shots!
